In the western part of the church, 12th-century romanesque columns and a stone tombstone, previously placed in the floor, have been preserved. It can be seen at an exhibition open to visitors in the part of the basilica under the choir. The outer west towers of the church support buttresses typical of Romanesque architecture. The remains of the church's Gothic reconstruction reveal the lightness of the interior, visible in the structure of the preserved stellar vault. In 2018, the apse and the entire chancel were renovated, towards which the altar was moved, as well as the aisles. The central part of the basilica was reconstructed, creating a monumental octagon covered with a magnificent dome referring to the style of
to the Roman Basilica of St. Peter. It burned down completely in 1945, was rebuilt, and in 2018 its structure was reinforced. The polychrome of the dome's vault in four oval medallions depicts scenes from the Old Testament: the hill of Moriah with the scene of the sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham, the sacrifice of Melchizedek, the sacrifice of Christ in the temple and the crucifixion
The polychrome in the nave's vault refers to the cult of St. Wojciech.
